STRUCTURE
Development of the Arts in Rural Spain Association
Since its foundation, the non-profit association has been developing musical projects in rural areas using new technologies to revitalize the rural environment and bring the living arts to new audiences.
The festival takes place during the month of August in different councils and municipalities of Asturias.
The project revitalizes rural heritage by using art to transform unused spaces. By integrating art exhibitions into these areas, it brings new ideas and value to both tangible and intangible heritage. Traditional structures and neglected sites are repurposed, giving them a new lease on life through artistic expression. This approach fosters a greater appreciation for the cultural assets of villages, blending preservation with innovation.
Artist Residency
ADAR's headquarters is in Leiguarda, a municipality in Belmonte de Miranda, Asturias. The Society for the Arts Development in Rural Spain manages this space, which includes rehearsal rooms and accommodations for artists. These facilities support the creation of artistic projects that are later showcased in the Summer Festival. Since its inception, the association has promoted the work of multidisciplinary artists, encouraging them to use the villages as canvases for visual art.
IMPACT
The project is developed in villages, towns and parishes that suffer from depopulation and have no more than 500 inhabitants.

"We visited this Belmont village to talk with Guillermo Laporta, flutist, musician and director of the Society for the Arts Development in Rural Spain and CreArtBox. Guillermo tells us about his project, aimed at revitalizing rural areas through cultural projects with international impact. They promote the use of unconventional spaces in disuse and encourage rural/cultural tourism, attracting artists from international cultural currents."
