The Festival for the Development of the Arts in the Rural Environment, ADAR, promoted by the association of the same name based in Leiguarda (Belmonte de Miranda) launches this August a more ambitious proposal than in past seasons, expanding its activity to other Asturian councils, such as Grado, El Franco and Colunga. The festival, promoted together with the CreArtBox group from New York, brings together internationally renowned artists to offer an itinerant festival of classical music and visual art in different areas of Asturias.

This project was created and directed by flutist Guillermo Laporta and pianist Josefina Urraca, international artists who took up residence in the village of Leiguarda in 2020. Both are directors of the CreArt Music Festival as well as creators of numerous scenic proposals of music, dance, theater and audiovisual creation. Guillermo was also co-principal of the Oviedo Filarmonía orchestra for several seasons.

The artists for this third edition of the festival include members of the New York-based CreArtBox as well as international soloists including Spanish violinist Jone de la Fuente, Spanish violist Almudena Arribas and Italian/American cellist Natania Hoffman. In addition, on the 9th and 13th the musicians will be accompanied by presenter Laude Martinez.

The events fuse classical and new music, and will feature pieces such as Heart Meditation for string trio, flute and piano by composer Annamaria Kowalsky, two Spanish pieces: the quintet in G minor op. 49 by Enrique Granados and the quartet in A minor op. 67 by Joaquín Turina, the first piece for cello and piano by Nadia Boulanger, the quartet TWV 43 g4 by Georg Philipp Telemann, the first study for viola and electronics by Nico Muhly and Spiegel im Spiegel by Arvo Part.

This project is part of the platform Asociación para el Desarrollo de las Artes en el Medio Rural (ADAR), based in Belmonte de Mirando, founded in 2021, which aims to revitalize rural areas through cultural projects of international impact, bring music and the arts to rural areas, promote the use of unconventional and disused spaces, encourage rural tourism through culture, and educate, motivate and inspire future generations.

For this third edition, a collaboration has been initiated with the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía through its GreenME program, receiving advice and mentoring to develop a new concept of concerts, the sound walks, through which the festival seeks to promote dialogue with nature linking the territory, history and the neighbors of the participating municipalities and energize the relationship of human beings in relation to nature.

The Asociación para el Desarrollo de las Artes en el Medio The ADAR Festival is subsidized by the Government of the Principality of Asturias, and supported by Caja Rural de Asturias.

All concerts will be free admission until full capacity is reached. For more information, please visit the website https://festivaladar.com/ and the social networks https://www.facebook.com/festivaladar, https://www.instagram.com/festivaladar/, and https://www.youtube.com/@festivaladar.
