The neighbors of La Caridad enjoyed yesterday in one of the most popular walking areas, María Cristina Park, a special concert of classical music, within the framework of the ADAR Festival. An itinerant event, - "because we move around different councils, specifically in rural areas" explains Josefina Urraca, artistic director- which aims to "bring classical music and visual arts to people who, perhaps, do not have an auditorium nearby", she adds.
A native of Palencia, Urraca embarked on the project three years ago with Guillermo Laporta, ADAR's executive director, and says she is very happy with the public's response. "We have a passion for sharing what we do. When people think that people from the village can't like classical music or won't understand it, I think it's only because of the lack of opportunities they've had in the past. Because music is the language of the universal. And for us, classical music is even more direct", Urraca emphasizes.
Jone de la Fuente on violin, Almudena Arribas on viola, Natania Hoffman on cello, Laporta on flute and Urraca on piano changed with their music the routine walk of the neighbors through the park. And in the afternoon they offered a visual concert in As Quintas.
"We are not from Asturias, but we have always been linked to it. Guillermo is from Huesca although he worked here and we wanted to do something here, in Asturias. We went to the United States, to New York, and we continue there, we do half a year there and another one here. With this festival, we hope to continue growing," said the pianist.
