THE MAIN ACTIONS TO BE CARRIED OUT

THE FOLLOWING ARE SOME OF THE EVENTS TAKING PLACE DURING THIS FESTIVAL:

Artist Residencies

The artistic residencies are a fundamental part of the festival, providing a space dedicated to artistic creation and experimentation. These residencies take place at ADAR's headquarters, located in the municipality of Leiguarda, Belmonte de Miranda, Asturias. The space managed by the association has rehearsal rooms and accommodation, providing artists with an environment conducive to the development of artistic projects.

For the duration of one month, artists selected through an open call have the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in their creative process in the rural context of Asturias. The open call allows artists from diverse disciplines and backgrounds to present innovative proposals that reflect their artistic vision.

During this period, resident artists work on their projects, explore the intersection between their artistic expressions and the local environment, and collaborate with each other as possible. In addition to creative sessions, residencies include interactions with the local community through workshops, presentations and participatory activities.

At the end of the month-long residency, the resulting works are presented at the festival, providing a platform for sharing creative experiences and fostering appreciation of the arts in rural Asturias. The open call and the extended residency period contribute to the diversity and quality of the artistic proposals presented at the ADAR festival.

In conclusion, the festival for the development of the arts in rural Asturias is presented as a comprehensive and avant-garde initiative. Directed by Guillermo Laporta and Josefina Urraca, the event fuses classical music and new artistic expressions, bringing culture to rural areas. Incorporating art installations in heritage sites, concerts in hórreos and paneras, educational workshops and artist residencies, the project seeks to revitalize rural communities, connect them with global audiences and use the arts as a means to address social problems. With the participation of Asturian artists, the festival positions itself as an engine of cultural change, promoting diversity and inclusion in the artistic field.

Chamber Music Concerts

The main core of the project is chamber music, fusing classical and new music, programming composers such as Mozart, Brahms, J.S. Bach, Haydn, Rachmaninoff, Leonard Bernstein, John Harbison, Marcos Fernández and Manuel de Falla.

Sound Walks

The "Sound Walks" are auditory experiences designed to take the public on a sensory journey through natural and cultural environments. These walks involve the creation of specific soundscapes that enhance the connection between the music and the environment in which the ADAR festival takes place.

The idea is to provide a unique experience where music is harmoniously intertwined with the natural sounds and distinctive characteristics of the rural places of Asturias.

During the Sound Walks, the audience has the opportunity to immerse themselves in carefully selected musical compositions while exploring different locations, such as villages, natural landscapes or cultural heritage sites. This approach seeks to create a multi-sensory experience that goes beyond traditional concert settings, allowing the audience to enjoy the music in harmony with the surrounding environment.

Last year, the Sound Walks took the public to unique auditory experiences in emblematic places such as the Ayalgas de Silviella Museum, the Fontela Palace in Grado and the María Cristina de las Quintas Park (El Franco).

Micro-concerts in hórreos and paneras (granaries)

The concerts in hórreos and paneras represent one of the most distinctive proposals of the festival. These traditional Asturian structures, the hórreos and paneras, become unique venues for musical performances. The choice of these places not only seeks to provide unforgettable cultural experiences, but also to highlight the connection between music and the traditional architecture of the region.

Concerts in hórreos and paneras offer an intimate and authentic experience, immersing the audience in the richness of classical and contemporary music in a setting that evokes Asturian tradition.

Visual art and art installations

The project uses visual art to foster dialogue and increase the temporal impact of the project. From working with sculptors and painters as part of the scenography, to lighting design and video art projection.

Since 2023, the festival has expanded its proposal with the inclusion of artistic installations in enclaves of heritage relevance. An outstanding example is the artistic intervention carried out in the Chapel of Los Dolores in Grado, as well as other notable interventions in emblematic places such as hórreos and paneras. These installations not only enrich the cultural offerings of the festival, but also contribute to enhance and preserve the historical heritage of these places, merging in a unique way contemporary creativity with the cultural and architectural richness of the region..

Educational Workshops and Master Classes

In collaboration with local schools, educational workshops are organized to promote artistic and musical education. Either with collective workshops in public schools for the introduction to music, or master classes in local music schools. Likewise, workshops are promoted to encourage contact with leisure and culture for people with functional diversity in collaboration with local educational centers.

Talks and Interviews

The festival includes talks where cultural dialogue is encouraged with the inhabitants of each council, studying local artistic currents and forms of expression and establishing connections with historical and contemporary artists and composers. In these workshops, various artists from the project are interviewed, as well as other guests of interest, addressing topics that connect the social role that the arts have in the social fabric of rural areas. On numerous occasions, these interviews are produced on video and subsequently published on social networks, filmed in places of special interest in Asturias, such as protected areas (natural parks, biosphere reserves, etc.). For this part of the project the ADAR Festival counts with the presenter Laude Martínez.

Artistic Experimentation Laboratory (ADAR Lab)

ADAR Lab is an experimental laboratory created with the aim of merging technology and art in the context of the festival. This innovative space is conceived as a field of exploration where it seeks to integrate the latest technological trends with avant-garde artistic expressions. For example, it will promote experimentation with Artificial Intelligence (AI). The creation of ADAR Lab responds to the need to offer a space dedicated to experimentation, interdisciplinary collaboration and the development of projects that explore the synergies between art and technology.
