Open to visual artists in any medium: video art, sculpture, architecture, set design, and installation creation.

The objective of this contest is to create one or more installations in selected locations in Asturias.

Deadline for submission of applications is April 30, 2024.

Accommodation, meals, transportation, materials, work space and a prize of 500 euros are offered.

HOW TO APPLY

Send an email in English or Spanish to info@creartbox.nyc with the following information:

  • Project description in 25 words

  • Artist's statement in 100 words introducing yourself and your work.

  • Description of the project in 500 words including concept, materials, feasibility to create the piece during the residency period, reason for being interested in this residency, interest in collaborating with resident musicians and sound artists, relationship of your work to the Asturian landscape and community.

  • 10 images, including related past work and 1 or 2 sketches of your proposed work.

  • Contact information, full name, address, telephone and e-mail.

Application Deadline: April 30 or after receipt of the first 100 proposals.

The Association for the Development of Arts in Rural Areas (ADAR) is pleased to invite visual artists from various disciplines to participate in our innovative project: The ADAR Festival - Itinerant Festival of Arts in Rural Areas of Asturias. This competition is open to individual creators specializing in:

  • Video Sculpture

  • Architectural Design

  • Landscaping Experimental Art

Objectives: The purpose of this competition is to create one or more art installations in selected locations within the Asturian geography, especially in towns, cities and parishes with less than 500 inhabitants that experience depopulation. In addition, during the residency, participants will have the opportunity to live and collaborate with sound artists and musicians who will be part of the festival, enriching the creative experience and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration between the visual and musical arts.

Participation Requirements: Open to visual artists in any medium. Individual creators in video, sculpture, design, architecture, landscape and experimental art. Participants must be willing to create their work during the residency, which will take place from July 15 to August 7. Resident or citizen of one of the following countries: Albania, Armenia, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Tunisia or Ukraine.
